Get ready, Killeen! Noah and I are continuing our series, 38th Street Eats Central Texas, where we’ll be trying a different local food vendor every Thursday and sharing our honest thoughts. This week, we hit up Border Bacon Glizzy’s!
This unique food cart is looking to bring the full feel of border town, Mexican hot dog vendors to Central Texas, letting people experience food made right in front of them. The entire concept—bacon-wrapped dogs—is unique, and we were immediately excited to try it. The owner’s customer care was fantastic, earning a perfect 10/10 from both of us.
We ordered two dogs, both bacon-wrapped and loaded with mustard, mayo, and ketchup, plus cooked green bell peppers. Even after a 5-minute drive, the hot dogs were still excellent. We can only imagine what they taste like fresh off the griddle!
The Details: The "Glizzy" had good flavor, but the bacon sent it over the top, adding a nice, necessary crunch to the entire dog. The seasoned bell peppers were dynamite, and the hot Cheeto dust was a surprisingly unique addition that gave it that classic hot Cheeto flavor and a satisfying crunch. Noah was surprised he even liked the mayonnaise, having never had it on a hot dog before! For me, the marriage of the mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise with all the other components was perfect.

Get ready, Killeen! Noah and I are continuing our series, 38th Street Eats Central Texas, where we’ll be trying a different local food vendor every Thursday and sharing our honest thoughts. This week, we hit up Papanga's Country Cookin!
Located in a food trailer parked at HteaO, Papanga's looks not unlike other food trailers in our area, which is why we both rated its appearance a 5/10. However, the food they're serving is anything but ordinary. The customer care from the owner was fantastic—he was very friendly and answered all of our questions, earning a perfect 10/10 from both of us.
We ordered a few different items to get a full picture of their menu.
The Lumpia: The lumpia had an impressive savory flavor as the pork and veggies married perfectly with each other. It came with a sweet and spicy sauce that was good, but I preferred the lumpia without it, while Noah preferred it with the sauce. We think the drive from Clear Creek to 38th Street might have caused it to lose its crunchiness, but the taste was delicious. Noah gave the lumpia a 9/10, while I rated it an 8/10.
The Hunter Sandwich: The bread of this sandwich was nice and soft, and the meatball was savory and tasty! Noah and I agreed that it was just like a mini burger, and it was as good as any regular burger we've had. The fries that came with it were a little soggy, but the seasoning was good. I gave the sandwich a 5/10, and Noah gave it a 6/10. The fries earned a 5/10 from me, while Noah rated them a 7/10.
The Sisig Fried Rice: This dish was unique, as Noah and I had never tasted anything like it! We ordered it spicy, and it was! The rice was fried to perfection, and the taste of the pork permeated throughout the entire dish. It was well put together, giving it a great umami flavor.
Overall, we both agree that Papanga's Country Cookin is a unique and flavorful spot that is worth trying. Our combined rating for this spot is a strong 8.5/10!
The Sisig Fried Rice was an absolute standout, and we'd love for them to consider joining us on a regular basis!

Get ready, Killeen! Noah and I are continuing our new series, 38th Street Eats Central Texas, where we’ll be trying a different local food vendor every Thursday and sharing our honest thoughts. This week, we hit up Bebo's Pizza!
Located on E Veteran Memorial Blvd, Bebo's is a Puerto Rican pizza truck that immediately impressed us with its unique concept and a wide array of options. You just don't see many pizza trucks, and their menu was full of unique pizza toppings we couldn't wait to try. We ordered the Meat Lover, and it came out piping hot and relatively fast, especially for a from-scratch pizza truck!
We drove back to 38th Street Eats as fast as we could to enjoy it hot. I should have waited a little longer to taste it because I burned the roof of my mouth, but it was worth it! The pizza had a great cheese that pulled nicely, and the toppings were abundant and delicious. The crust was exactly what you'd want out of a homemade pizza—crusty on the edges and a little soft below the toppings.
Noah and I were both genuinely impressed, and Noah even mentioned it might be the best pizza he has ever eaten.

Get ready, Killeen! Noah and I are launching our new series, 38th Street Eats Central Texas, where we'll be trying a different local food vendor every Thursday and sharing our honest thoughts. For our first review, we hit up Gogi House TX!
Located on Trimmier Ave, Gogi House TX is a vibrant blue truck that we couldn't wait to try. We were greeted by the owner's son, who was super friendly and had a great attitude. He was happy to answer our questions and even recommended a few things from their menu. We tried their wings and their delicious Gogi tacos. Noah, a true taco fan, absolutely loved the tacos, while I found them to be an interesting new twist on a classic!
Now for the real talk. The fries: holy smokes! These were, in my humble opinion, the best fries I have ever eaten. Perfectly salted with an incredible crunch. The wings came with a side of crunchy carrots and bell peppers in a savory liquid that was surprisingly flavorful. At first, I thought the wings were a little too sweet, but after a few bites, the flavor grew on me. They were cooked to perfection, and the meat came right off the bone. Noah loved them from the first bite.
Noah and I were both impressed by the experience and the food. Our overall rating for this spot is a strong 8.75/10!
